I am moving into a new apartment in a week. When I first visited I didn't notice too many things wrong....?
Now that I have visited a second time I've noticed shelving that is missing, markers written on a window, the thermostat isn't attached to the wall fully, the kitchen floor is dirty along with the cupboards, the blinds in the kitchen don't work properly and in the living room the blinds are very dirty, along with some other items. The maintenance man who gave us the keys to the apartment told us to write everything down that needed fixing. Am I liable for any of this? Shouldn't these items be fixed from the previous tenants security deposit? I am moving from an apartment to this new one with the same landlord. I do not want to cause a rift between him and I but the apartment I am moving from I have cleaned thoroughly and written down any problems in this apartment. Shouldn't I expect that my new apartment be fixed and cleaned?
