NYU for Dental Hygiene? Is it hard to get into?

I'm starting out as a Dental Assistant and I love the Dental field! I'm 26. I'm thinking in the future of becoming a Hygienist. I was looking into NYU but it seems like they are very selective and its pretty hard to get into. There aren't many selections around NY for Dental Hygiene schools. Is NYU really hard to get into for this particular program? I'm worried about the fact that I haven't been in school for a long time. If anyone has gone to NYU, I would appreciate the help! :)
