I turned 18 20 days ago and my older sister is telling me I need to sign up for selective service?

Is it required? How many guys 18-25 have actually signed up for selective service because it's against the law not to apparently? Can't you claim ignorance about this? Does this increase my chances of getting drafted? Can I get away with ignoring it? :/
