Should I get a Betta fish or a Goldfish?

Which ones are more fun to watch and interact with their owners more? What is the best, hardiest type of fancy goldfish? I will be going to college in a few years, and both types of fish live at least 5 years, and whichever one I choose will go to college with me. Which one would be best for college? It will have to come back and forth with me ( it is a 4 hour drive to college from my house), so keep that in mind. Thanks(:
