What should I do I think he likes me back but he's started ignoring me?

I really like this boy and we've been friends for a few months so its not as if we're good friends but i really fancy him and i've told him and he didn't react badly, he hung around me for about half an hour then we all went home. We have been texting for hours at a time but the other day his mate found out i liked him and told all our friends but why is the boy I like ignoring my texts and me in school except for saying hi???
